More thoughts on EBacc ...and a replacement

07 Feb 2011

Following my earlier blog post www.mikebakereducation.co.uk/blog/356/thumbs-down-for-ebacc-from-academy-headsabout the dim view taken of the EBacc amongst academy principals, my attention has been brought to the fact that work is underway on an "alternative baccalaureate".

This is being led by Andrew Chubb, principal of the Archbishop Sentamu Academy in East Hull and John Dunford's 'Whole Education' charity.

Although Chubb acknowledges that there could be a 'Technical Bacc' to run alongside the EBacc, he does not think that is really the answer as he fears there will be a hierarchy of Baccs. Instead his idea is for a "fuller" baccalaureate to replace the EBacc.
