What's happening to teachers' pay and pensions

With a squeeze on public spending, it's now clear that public sector pay and pensions are also the target for government savings.
So what are the prospects for teachers' salaries with the pay freeze announced by the Chancellor? And how does the teachers' pension scheme work now and how might it change in the future?
