History of primary schools - problems listening again
30 Sep 2009
A number of you have kindly sent comments saying you wished to catch the BBC 4 series 'From Abacus to Circle Time' but have been unable to get it on the BBC iplayer.
I'm afraid for reasons I don't fully understand the BBC only keeps programmes there for one week. Sadly I do not have the copyright to put the audio of the programmes on my website.
There is one answer: lobby the Controller of Radio 4 to repeat the series! They might do so if there is enough demand.
Meanwhile in response to others who have asked for more details about sources/historical detail etc I do plan to put some of the scripts, bits of transcripts, and sources on this website in due course. So please watch this space.

Primary Schools History
Great series have been a lecturer in Further and Higher Education and I as lucky I did not pass the 11 plus so did not go to Grammar school thank goodness. I went to a Secondary Modern and had a 15 year gap year. It would be great to look at the history post -16 education history; it is just as interesting and fascinating as long as you don't involve the Melanie Philips and Michael Portillo and yes I fed up with the one week deadline !
