Future of primary schools
25 Sep 2009
I'm taking part in BBC Radio 4's debate on the future of primary schools today -- it's being pre-recorded and will be broadcast at 20.00 on Wednesday 30th September.
The idea is to follow up the three-part series on the history of primary schools ('From Abacus to Circle Time') which has traced the development of the ideas and reality of primary education from the 19th century to today. Episode 3 of the series is on Tuesday 29th at 16.00 on Radio 4. Episode two is currently available on the BBC iplayer
The panel for the debate - which is chaired by Jane Garvey from Woman's Hour - is: Mick Brookes, NAHT, Professor John White from the Institute of Education, Sheila Lawlor from the think-tank Politeia, and Steve Punt, Radio 4 comedian and parent.
We will try to answer the question: 'what should the primary school of 2020 look like?'
